A crowd of 20,000 gathered at the Municipal de El Alto stadium, perched at 4,150 meters above sea level, to witness the historic match.
This victory was especially sweet for Bolivia as it marked the first win for newly-appointed head coach Oscar Villegas. Ramiro Vaca set the tone with a stunning long-range goal in the 13th minute, followed by Carmelo Alganaraz, Miguel Terceros, and Enzo Monteiro sealing the deal.
