In a significant announcement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath revealed plans to establish 1,000 new playgrounds across the state to promote football. The announcement was made during the Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal football match, held at KD Singh Babu Stadium under the Chief Minister's Cup.
Adityanath emphasized the government's dedication to sports, noting that over 500 athletes who have won medals in international competitions have been recruited into government jobs. He assured that this support will continue in the future.
The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the remarkable growth in sports, particularly highlighting the 'Khelo India' initiative. Uttar Pradesh is aligning with this mission by constructing playgrounds in all 57,000 gram panchayats and developing mini stadiums and full-scale stadiums across the state.
