On National Sports Day in New Delhi, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, introduced the “Retired Sportsperson Empowerment Training” (RESET) Programme. This initiative aims to support retired athletes by enhancing their career development with essential skills and knowledge, thereby increasing their employability.

Dr. Mandaviya described the RESET Programme as a crucial step in empowering retired sportspersons who have brought significant acclaim to the nation. He highlighted that the program will bridge generational gaps, allowing the expertise of retired athletes to benefit aspiring young sports talents. This initiative is expected to foster the growth of sports in India and contribute to national development.

The Minister encouraged all eligible retired athletes to apply for the RESET Programme and engage actively in the country’s sports ecosystem. He assured that the government is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to retired sportspersons.

The RESET Programme is open to athletes aged 20 to 50 years who have competed internationally or have achieved National or State medals. Applications will be processed through a dedicated portal.

The initial phase of the program will offer two levels of courses based on educational qualifications: Class 12th and above, and Class 11th and below. The Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) will lead the pilot phase of the program.

The RESET Programme will be delivered in a hybrid format, combining online self-paced learning with on-ground training and internships. Participants will have the opportunity to intern with sports organizations, competitions, and leagues, and will receive placement assistance and guidance for entrepreneurial ventures upon completion.

Registration for the RESET Programme begins today at LNIPE RESET Programme. Courses will commence following the evaluation of applications, and participants will be notified accordingly.
