Several Uruguayan soccer internationals, including Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez and Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, have been suspended by South American soccer body CONMEBOL. The suspensions follow incidents in the Copa America semi-final against Colombia in July.

Núñez will miss five Uruguay fixtures, including several in World Cup qualifying, while Bentancur faces a four-match ban. Additionally, Mathías Olivera, Ronald Araújo, and José Maria Giménez will each be sidelined for three games.

The incident occurred at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, where Uruguay players were involved in a post-match brawl with fans after their 1-0 loss to Colombia. Núñez will also pay a fine of USD 20,000, Bentancur USD 16,000, and Olivera, Araujo, and Giménez USD 12,000 each. An additional seven Uruguay players will pay fines of USD 5,000 apiece.
