Zheng Qinwen Aims for Deep U.S. Open Run After Historic Olympic Gold
Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen is determined to avoid past mistakes and make a deep run at the U.S. Open after winning China's first tennis singles gold in Paris. She overcame American Amanda Anisimova in the first round and is set to face Russian Erika Andreeva next.
Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen has vowed not to fall into old patterns as she aims for a deep run at the U.S. Open, following her historic win of China's first tennis singles gold in Paris.
Previously, Zheng has experienced sub-par performances after significant victories. However, the 21-year-old overcame the first hurdle by battling back from a set down to defeat American Amanda Anisimova in New York on Monday.
Zheng acknowledged that maintaining a stable mindset is crucial to her success. 'Usually after huge success I will get a little bit too high,' she said. 'This time I'm telling myself, I don't want to let this happen. I'm going to continue working hard.'
