Australian racing talent Jack Doohan is set to drive for Alpine's Formula One team next season after a promotion from his position as reserve driver, the Renault-owned team confirmed on Friday. Doohan, who is the son of MotoGP legend Mick Doohan, will take over from French driver Esteban Ocon, whose contract ends following the 2024 season.

Alpine announced that Doohan will join Pierre Gasly to complete the team's driver lineup for the upcoming season. This move makes Doohan the first prospect from the Alpine Academy to secure a race seat with the team.

According to the team's statement, the combination of Doohan's youthful energy and Gasly's experience is expected to create a balanced and dynamic partnership aimed at driving future success for Alpine.
