Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur has pulled out of the U.S. Open due to a right shoulder injury, according to tournament organizers. This marks another disappointment in an injury-filled year for the 2022 finalist.

Earlier this month, Jabeur withdrew from the Citi Open and had to retire from the Berlin Open quarter-finals in June. She also missed the Paris Olympics due to knee problems.

Belgian player Elise Mertens will take Jabeur's spot in the draw as the 33rd seed, with a qualifier or lucky loser filling Mertens' original position.
