India Gears Up for Badminton Asia Junior Championships

India will be sending a 39-member squad to the Badminton Asia (U-15/U-17) junior championships in Chengdu, China, from August 20-25. The primary goal is to create a robust pool of players for next year's World Junior Championship, which India will be hosting.
The contingent was selected after rigorous trials in Bengaluru and is led by Gnana Dattu and Tanvi Reddy Andluri in the U-17 category. In the U-15 category, Shyam Bindiganavile and Tanvi Patri will lead the singles players.
The Indian team left for Chengdu on Saturday following an extensive training camp at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati, overseen by Indian and foreign coaches. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) secretary Sanjay Mishra expressed confidence in the team, noting the significant effort put into preparations. Shaina Manimuthu will compete in both U-17 girls singles and girls doubles events.
