The Uttar Pradesh forest department's campaign to capture or neutralize a wolf pack in Bahraich's Mahasi tehsil faces hurdles due to incorrect wolf sightings and crowd interference. Since mid-July, eight people have been killed and more than 20 injured due to wolf attacks.

The department has mobilized 165 personnel and 18 shooters, utilizing thermal camera-equipped drones and snap cameras, but incorrect reports have complicated prompt searches. Divisional Forest Officer Ajit Pratap Singh explained that false sightings create undue pressure. Additionally, distancing wolves and local curiosity disrupt search operations.

District Magistrate Monika Rani mentioned that night shelters have been set up, doors installed in homes, and solar lights positioned to enhance safety. Educational campaigns have been initiated to advise villagers on protective measures.
