Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the indispensable role of forensic science in upholding justice, tackling cybercrimes, and addressing environmental degradation during his address at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). He highlighted the need for forensic experts to apply their skills in fighting terrorism and organized crime.
Dhankhar praised the new criminal laws, noting that they have liberated India from its colonial legal legacy and paved the way for a more just society. He affirmed that forensic science ensures justice not only by identifying perpetrators but also by exonerating the innocent.
The Vice President pointed out that as cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, the demand for forensic experts who can secure digital infrastructure is more critical than ever. He also highlighted forensic science's pivotal role in combating climate change by identifying pollution sources and tracking wildlife poaching.
