India and Singapore have jointly called for the peaceful resolution of disputes in the South China Sea, stressing the vital importance of maintaining peace, security, and freedom of navigation, in line with international law and UNCLOS. The joint declaration was issued during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Singapore.

The India-Singapore Joint Statement highlighted the nexus between prosperity and security, affirming the importance of promoting peace, stability, and freedom of navigation. The leaders emphasized resolving disputes peacefully, as per international law, particularly UNCLOS, avoiding the threat or use of force.

Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Lawrence Wong underscored UNCLOS as the legal framework for maritime activities, pressing for an early conclusion of a substantive, effective Code of Conduct in the South China Sea. They also condemned terrorism as a severe global threat, reaffirming their commitment to combating it in all forms.
