Delhi authorities are taking a significant step to combat illegal parking with a newly developed mobile application. The Delhi Traffic Police, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and New Delhi Municipal Council announced the initiative after a review meeting chaired by Lt Governor VK Saxena.
The new app will allow real-time uploads and action against illegally parked vehicles, with gardeners in NDMC areas piloting the project. Saxena emphasized the importance of addressing illegal parking and issued several directives to tackle the issue.
To encourage the use of designated multi-level parking and electric vehicles, the app will incentivize compliance with substantial discounts. The initiative is part of broader efforts to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution, with prioritization given to locations like Kamla Nagar and Yusuf Sarai market.
