Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar chaired a review meeting on Friday with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, focusing on the power sector and urban development projects.

Khattar, who holds the portfolios of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, emphasized the government's commitment to transforming power and urban infrastructure to ensure a sustainable future for Himachal Pradesh. Topics of discussion included distinct norms for hilly states like Himachal Pradesh under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transport (AMRUT) scheme, given the state's challenging terrain and topography.

Additional discussions covered ongoing projects related to power, smart city initiatives, and various urban development schemes including the Prime Minister SVANidhi scheme. The issue of funding and project sanctioning based on population was also raised, along with recommendations for amending tender policies to accelerate development works. The meeting concluded with a focus on enhanced power production through the utilization of running water for hydro power.
