Voting for by-elections in five assembly constituencies across Assam began as electors set out to decide the destinies of 34 candidates, an Election Commission official announced.
The by-elections, conducted in Dholai (SC), Sidli (ST), Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri, follow vacancies created when local representatives secured seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Support for orderly and fair elections has witnessed the deployment of approximately 9,000 personnel across 1,078 centers. Meanwhile, 15 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces have been stationed at polling centers, supplemented by Assam Police assistance.
