In a significant political shift, Mateen Ahmed, a seasoned Congress leader and five-time MLA from Seelampur, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The move comes shortly after his son and daughter-in-law allied themselves with the party led by Arvind Kejriwal.
Ahmed's transition to AAP was formalized by Kejriwal, who commended Ahmed's public service in the Yamuna-paar area. This change highlights the dynamic political landscape in Delhi as parties gear up for the upcoming Assembly polls scheduled for February next year.
Simultaneously, the AAP faced its own setback with Harsharan Singh Balli, a veteran politician, quitting the party to rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Balli made his return to BJP in a gathering that included BJP's Delhi unit president, Virendra Sachdeva.
