Maharashtra's Political Battlefield: Nominations Surge Ahead of Elections

In a massive show of political maneuvering, nearly 8,000 candidates have filed their nominations for Maharashtra's 288 assembly seats, culminating on Tuesday at the end of the submission process.
A statement from the Chief Electoral Officer's office noted that 10,905 nominations have been lodged with the Election Commission for the upcoming polls, scheduled for November 20. This marks a significant increase from 2019, when 5,543 nominations were received statewide.
The political landscape in Nashik district is particularly heated, with 361 candidates filing 506 nominations. A number of prominent figures have entered the electoral race, including current ministers and party stalwarts from the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP. The electorate will cast their votes on November 20, with counting set for three days later.
