The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its first list of 66 candidates for the forthcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, including high-profile candidates like party president Babulal Marandi and former Chief Minister Champai Soren. Marandi will contest from Dhanwar, while Soren has been fielded from Saraikela.
The party has also nominated Sita Soren from Jamtara, adding to its strategic lineup with well-known figures such as Geeta Kora, and former Union ministers Sudarshan Bhagat and Meera Munda. The elections, spread over two phases on November 13 and 20, are crucial as the BJP contests 68 of the 81 assembly seats.
Champai Soren's switch from JMM to BJP marks a significant political move aimed at strengthening BJP's tribal connections. Meanwhile, leaders like Geeta Kora shift their allegiance to BJP amidst a fierce contest. The party is gearing up to challenge the ruling JMM-led alliance with a robust electoral strategy.
