In a sharp critique directed at the opposition, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took aim at BJD president Naveen Patnaik, questioning the motive behind his visits to rain-affected crop fields. Majhi accused Patnaik of abandoning the proverbial 'ivory towers' due to pressure from the BJP's grassroots approach.

Majhi's comments came against the backdrop of Patnaik's tour across five districts, where he engaged with farmers impacted by unseasonal rains. Majhi suggested that the ruling party's methods have unsettled BJD leaders, urging them not to be intimidated by the BJP's hands-on governance style.

In a counter, BJD's Ganeswar Behera defended Patnaik's outreach, attributing it to his growing popularity. Behera claimed that the BJP feels threatened by the crowds that greet Patnaik, while state law minister Pritihiviraj Harichandan urged cooperation for Odisha's development, dismissing the event as mere political drama.
