The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched an investigation into the alleged malpractices in the recruitment process within Jammu and Kashmir's Fire and Emergency Services department. The case follows significant claims of favoritism, paper leaks, and discrepancies in recruitment, initially uncovered in 2020.
According to ACB officials, the investigation was initiated following a communication from the General Administration Department which detailed findings from the inquiry committee. Allegations include illicitly awarding contracts to ineligible agencies, manipulating selection lists, and nepotism in candidate selection, notably favoring individuals from certain locales.
Historical probe traces back irregularities since 2013, citing repeated instances where established procedures were compromised. Charges have been lodged under the Prevention of Corruption Act against various departmental officials, with further investigations underway to ensure accountability and transparency in recruitment practices.
