The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first set of candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, unveiling 66 names that include party president Babulal Marandi and former chief minister Champai Soren.
This strategic candidate list, revealed on Saturday, highlights the party's intent to strengthen its foothold by fielding heavyweights such as Sita Soren in Jamtara, alongside Geeta Kora and former Union minister Sudarshan Bhagat. Elections will occur in two rounds on November 13 and 20, with results following on November 23.
The BJP, which plans to contest 68 out of 81 seats in the assembly, aims to unseat the JMM-led government, leveraging its candidates to consolidate support among key voter demographics, particularly in tribal regions where the JMM has traditionally held sway.
