BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan on Friday strongly criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling for her immediate resignation amid ongoing protests. The protests are related to the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Kesavan termed Banerjee's recent remarks as 'political drama', urging her to step down.

'It is high time Mamata Banerjee stops her drama and surrenders to Dharma. Instead of faking resignation dramas, she should follow rightful Dharma and quit immediately,' Kesavan stated.

Drawing parallels with fables, Kesavan likened Banerjee's behavior to deceitful animals, questioning her sincerity in seeking justice. He also criticized the state government's refusal to live-stream a meeting with junior doctors, casting doubts on its commitment to transparency.

The junior doctors have put forth five demands: justice for the victim, action against those who tampered with evidence, removal of Principal Sandeep Ghosh, resignation of the Kolkata Commissioner of Police, and safer conditions for students and doctors. Kesavan reproached Banerjee for not addressing these demands adequately and for seeking sympathy instead.

'The reason the protests continue is because they do not trust Mamata Banerjee's government or her police. Even after the high court transferred the case to the CBI and the Supreme Court took cognizance, people do not trust that a fair investigation will occur.'

Kesavan urged Banerjee to resign to pave the way for justice. 'Stop your drama. Surrender to Dharma. Resign today so that the path is finally paved for justice for the victim and her family,' he concluded.
