Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala's son Aditya Surjewala, along with BJP candidate Shruti Choudhry and other prominent political figures, have formally submitted their nominations for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections.
Former Haryana deputy chief minister and Congress candidate Chander Mohan also entered the fray, filing his papers for the Panchkula assembly seat.
The state of Haryana will go to the polls on October 5, with results to be announced three days later on October 8.
Aditya Surjewala is contesting from the Kaithal assembly seat, accompanied by his father and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala. Shruti Choudhry filed from the Tosham seat with her mother, Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhry, and BJP's Haryana in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb offering their support.
Other notable nominations include Congress nominee Ashok Arora from Thanesar, backed by senior party leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The nomination process closes today, with scrutiny taking place on September 13 and the deadline for withdrawal set for September 16.
The ruling BJP aims to secure a third consecutive term but faces a vigorous challenge from a rejuvenated Congress, hoping to leverage the anti-incumbency sentiment.
