Addressing the ongoing protests by junior doctors, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh emphasized the legitimacy of their demand for justice. Ghosh called for the CBI to swiftly conclude its investigation, promising that the culprits would face the death penalty. We are also supporting the demand for justice, he said, acknowledging the harassment faced by patients due to the protests.

Earlier, the West Bengal Medical Council organized a rally in Kolkata, advocating for justice in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case. The protest saw doctors carrying banners with messages such as In demand of punishment for all rapist-murderers and their accomplices in the Abhaya rape and murder case, as they marched to demand justice.

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased trainee doctor criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's response. He expressed dissatisfaction with her role and claimed the case involved more culprits than just the arrested Sanjay Roy. The medical student, a second-year postgraduate, was tragically raped and murdered inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9.
