The Congress on Thursday unveiled its fourth list of five candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections, bringing the total number of declared candidates to 86. The latest list includes Parimal Pari from Ambala Cantt and Sachin Kundu from Panipat Rural.
This announcement follows the Congress's third list, which featured 40 candidates, including Aditya Surjewala, son of party MP Randeep Surjewala, who will contest from Kaithal. Speculation continues over the remaining four seats, where candidates have yet to be announced.
Seat-sharing talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have reached an impasse, causing the Congress to accelerate its candidate declarations. Concurrently, the party has received varied reactions about a potential tie-up with AAP from its ranks. Friday and Sunday saw further lists released by Congress, adding key names like former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and wrestler Vinesh Phogat. Haryana's assembly elections are set for October 5, with vote counting on October 8.
