They raised slogans and carried placards, accusing Gandhi of disrespecting the Sikh community. The police intervened and prevented the protestors from reaching Gandhi's residence.
Addressing Indian Americans in Washington DC, Gandhi criticized the RSS for discriminating against certain religions, languages, and communities. He emphasized that the real fight in India is about such discrimination, not politics, and referred specifically to the Sikh community's rights.
The protestors demanded an apology from Gandhi for allegedly humiliating Sikhs and blamed the Congress for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The BJP condemned Gandhi's remarks, claiming he is creating a dangerous narrative by discussing sensitive issues abroad.
