Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of India's Congress Party, has sharply criticized the RSS, accusing the organization of considering some religions, languages, and communities inferior. Addressing a gathering of Indian Americans in Herndon, Virginia, Gandhi argued that the struggle in India transcends politics and focuses on preserving cultural diversity.
Gandhi pointedly questioned whether religious minorities in India, such as Sikhs, are still allowed to observe their traditions, including wearing turbans and visiting Gurdwaras. He emphasized that the fight is about protecting the rights and traditions of all communities, not just political affairs.
During his four-day visit to the U.S., which included stops in Dallas and Washington DC, Gandhi continued to challenge the RSS's vision of India, asserting that the indigenous culture, language, and traditions of each state are equally important. He referred to the BJP's policies as out of touch with India's constitutional representation as a union of diverse states.
