The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of being involved in the 'criminal conspiracy' related to the Delhi Excise Policy. The CBI submitted its final charge sheet, alleging Kejriwal's pre-conceived plan to privatize the excise policy, which was later marred by corruption allegations and subsequently scrapped.
According to the CBI, Kejriwal sought financial support for AAP in March 2021 during the policy formulation, with his associate Vijay Nair allegedly demanding illegal payments from stakeholders for a favorable excise policy. The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict on Kejriwal's petition challenging his arrest by CBI.
Further allegations include Kejriwal's role in transferring corrupt money to Goa via the hawala route to fund AAP's election expenses. Accused party members were charged with misusing ill-gotten money and causing significant losses to the exchequer while benefiting the conspirators.
