The Delhi High Court on Monday upheld the defamation proceedings against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, dismissing their plea to quash the case involving allegations of voter list deletions.

Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta threw out the AAP leaders' challenge to the defamation proceedings and directed all parties to present themselves before the trial court on October 3. The high court's interim stay from February 28, 2020, was also vacated.

The defamation case, brought by BJP leader Rajeev Babbar, alleges that during a 2018 press conference, AAP leaders falsely blamed the BJP for the deletion of 30 lakh voters from specific communities in Delhi's electoral rolls. Kejriwal and other AAP leaders maintain that no defamatory remarks were made.
