The Congress on Friday released its initial list of 32 candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections, including former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, state unit chief Udai Bhan from Hodal, and wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana.

The announcement followed a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the party held in Delhi, attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Sonia Gandhi, and other senior leaders.

The Congress initially announced a list of 31 candidates, later adding Balbir Singh as the candidate for Israna (reserved for Scheduled Castes) constituency. Among the candidates, the party has named five women, with wrestler Phogat being a new entrant in the political arena.
