Infamous Mexican Drug Lord Osiel Cardenas Released from U.S. Prison
Osiel Cardenas, one of Mexico's most notorious drug lords and former leader of the Gulf Cartel, was released from U.S. prison on Friday. He was captured in 2003 after a gun battle and extradited to the U.S. in 2007. Cardenas was handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Osiel Cardenas, one of the most infamous drug lords in Mexico's history, was released from prison on Friday, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed.
Cardenas, who had been the leader of the notorious Gulf Cartel, was captured following a gun battle in 2003 and extradited to the United States in 2007.
A spokesperson for the U.S. prison service informed Reuters that Cardenas was released "into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)" earlier on Friday.
