Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has announced his decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), vowing to focus on tribal development and state progress. Soren's move aims to counter the threat of Bangladeshi infiltration and protect the existence of tribals in Jharkhand.

Speaking to ANI, Soren expressed his commitment to advancing the state's development, stating, "We don't have the next plan yet. On the 30th, I will join the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is the biggest party in the country. Whatever role the party will give me, I will do it." His formal induction into BJP is scheduled for August 30 in Ranchi.

Soren elaborated on his decision by highlighting his faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He called for cooperation in his new chapter of the struggle for tribal, Dalit, backward classes, and common people's rights. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also confirmed Soren's meeting with Amit Shah, signifying the official entry into BJP.

The Congress party criticized the BJP's move, accusing them of leveraging figures with high ambitions from rival parties. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren left the judgment to the people, while Independent MP Pappu Yadav warned that such decisions could erode trust in leadership. Champai Soren dismissed criticism, stating it was inappropriate to respond to his former party, JMM.

Soren had earlier hinted at forming a new party, airing grievances about being 'insulted' in his previous role and keeping all options open ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.
