Prohibitory Orders Extended at RG Kar Medical College Amid Protests
Prohibitory orders around RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata have been extended till September 30. The restrictions, first enforced in August, are due to ongoing protests following the rape and murder of a doctor. The CISF has been tasked with the hospital's security by the Supreme Court.

Prohibitory orders surrounding the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in north Kolkata have been extended until September 30, confirmed an official.
Initially enacted on August 18, the orders limit group gatherings to no more than five people due to protests over the rape and murder of a doctor at the hospital.
The orders, issued under Section 163 (2) of BNSS, will also be enforced at the Shyambazar five-point crossing and nearby roads leading to the RG Kar hospital, according to a notification.
Possession of sticks, dangerous, and lethal weapons are banned, and any attempts to disrupt peace and tranquillity will lead to legal prosecution under Section 223 of the BNS, it stated.
The Supreme Court has assigned CISF the responsibility for the hospital's security.
