Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) candidate from Mendhar Assembly Constituency, Javed Ahmed Rana, expressed gratitude towards the party's high command and the local residents, emphasizing the party's major goal of creating a separate administrative division for the Pir Panjal region.

Rana stated, 'I thank the party high command and the people of Mendhar. I had got many projects sanctioned for Mendhar, many out of which were completed and some were not. We lack a degree college, women's college, engineering, or medical college in the region, and in the coming days, we will work towards this. Our biggest agenda is to make Pir Panjal region a separate administrative division,' he told ANI.

Earlier on August 26, the National Conference announced a list of 18 candidates nominated for the upcoming Assembly elections. Party president Farooq Abdullah approved the nominations. Key contestants include retired Justice Hussnain Masoodi from Pampore, Mohammed Khalil Bandh from Pulwama, and Sheikh Mohammad Rafi from Shopian.

The National Conference is set to contest 51 of the 90 seats in partnership with Congress, which will field candidates for 32 seats. Both parties will engage in a 'friendly contest' over five additional seats. The elections will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with vote counting on October 4.

The entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, home to 88.06 lakh electors, will participate in the election process.
