The Congress on Monday announced its second lineup of six candidates for the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, with JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra standing from Central Shalteng.

Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC) convened to finalize the candidates list, with the party contesting in partnership with the National Conference. Apart from Karra, Mumtaz Khan from Reasi, Bhupender Jamwal from Mata Vaishno Devi, Iftikhar Ahmed from Rajouri (ST), Shabbir Ahmed Khan from Thannamandi (ST), and Mohammad Shahnawaz Choudhary from Surankote (ST) are also in the fray.

In their second phase discussions, the CEC greenlighted six seats while additional information was sought for one seat and several third phase constituencies. The party's total declared candidates now stand at 15.
