Union Minister Chirag Paswan was re-elected as the president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) for the next five years during its national executive meeting.
The meeting, which reached a unanimous decision, also focused on the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, Jammu Kashmir, and Jharkhand. Paswan highlighted the importance of consulting state units to decide whether to contest the elections alone or in alliance, particularly with the BJP.
Paswan also pushed for a nationwide caste census but warned against making the figures public to avoid societal divisions. He cited ongoing issues of discrimination and untouchability faced by Dalits, emphasizing continuous support for the SC-ST community under constitutional norms. The meeting concluded with a resolution expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his initiatives towards the SC-ST community.
