Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday claimed that Hindus have not attempted to enter India from Bangladesh since the neighbouring country plunged into instability.

Addressing a press conference, Sarma remarked, 'Hindus are staying and fighting in Bangladesh. In the last month, not a single Hindu has been found trying to enter India.'

He further asserted that Muslims from Bangladesh were endeavoring to cross the border to seek employment in India's textile sector, revealing that 35 Muslim infiltrators had been arrested in the past month. 'We have requested our Prime Minister to impress upon the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of Hindus,' he added.
