Navi Mumbai police have made significant arrests, detaining two persons and registering cases against five others in connection to the alleged rape and trafficking of a 24-year-old Bangladeshi woman, officials reported Thursday.
Authorities claim the victim, originating from Khulna district, was deceived into entering India under the pretense of employment. Upon arrival, she was reportedly raped and later forced into prostitution by various accused individuals.
The charged parties include Amir Azam and Shaifali Jahangir Mulla, both residents of Nerul. They face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, the Passport (Entry into India) Act, and the Foreigners Act.
