The BJP on Thursday launched a fresh attack on the opposition's 'appeasement' politics, targeting West Bengal's decision to include numerous Muslim castes in the OBC category. This move followed a proposal just a day earlier, with BJP alleging harm to the interests of backward classes.

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav strongly condemned the decision as an act of 'minority appeasement' and criticized similar actions by Congress governments in Telangana and Karnataka, accusing them of depriving OBCs of their rights to benefit Muslims.

Citing a Supreme Court affidavit from the Bengal government, Yadav highlighted that 75 of the 77 castes added to the OBC list were from the Muslim community. He argued that the OBC Commission's comprehensive study protocols were ignored, accusing the opposition of violating constitutional principles.
