Laboratory Technician Arrested for Alleged Molestation of Minor in West Bengal Hospital

A laboratory technician in Howrah District Headquarters Hospital, West Bengal, has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl. The girl, admitted last week, was reportedly threatened by the technician. The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has demanded the hospital superintendent's resignation.

A laboratory technician has been apprehended for allegedly molesting a minor girl at a state-run hospital in West Bengal's Howrah district, according to police sources.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening at Howrah District Headquarters Hospital, where the 12-year-old girl had been admitted the previous week, the authorities added.

A relative of the minor claimed that she emerged from the laboratory in tears, recounting that the technician had touched her inappropriately and threatened her with severe consequences if she disclosed the incident.

The accused laboratory assistant has been taken into custody, and an investigation is currently in progress, stated an officer.

In response, members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of CPI(M), staged a demonstration at the hospital on Sunday, demanding the resignation of the hospital superintendent.
