The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) held a protest on Thursday outside the Enforcement Directorate's office, demanding the resignation of SEBI chief Madhabi Buch and a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue.

The protest, led by Congress state president Bhupen Borah, was attended by prominent figures including MPs Pradyut Bordoloi and Rakibul Hussain, along with Debabrata Saikia and other senior leaders.

Dhubri Congress MP Rakibul Hussain criticized investigating agencies like the ED and CBI, and even constitutional bodies such as the Election Commission, for allegedly working under BJP directives. Nagaon's Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi expressed disappointment over central agencies being used to target the opposition.

Party leaders vowed to demand proper investigations into corruption cases involving business entities loyal to the ruling BJP. The Congress intensified its attack on the NDA government following fresh allegations from Hindenburg Research against Buch, highlighting obscure offshore funds linked to the Adani scandal.

The protest saw heavy security measures, including barricades, to control the crowd. Despite the tension, there were no major incidents, although some senior leaders did engage in a scuffle with security personnel. Similar protests were held by INDIA bloc members across the country, calling for a JPC and a CBI investigation into the corruption allegations against Buch.
