Madhya Pradesh Congress staged a massive protest against the BJP government in Bhopal on Friday, highlighting issues of unemployment, inflation, and corruption. The demonstration, led by Congress chief Jitu Patwari and other prominent leaders, aimed to 'gherao' the CM house but was halted at Roshanpura crossing.
In an attempt to cross the barricades, police deployed water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protestors. Patwari stressed the protest was to hold the BJP accountable to their promises made during state assembly elections, calling for action on Dalit atrocities, youth employment, and fair MSP for farmers.
Vikrant Bhuria condemned the police's forceful response, comparing it to treatment of terrorists, and vowed to continue fighting for public rights. Additional Commissioner of Police Awadhesh Goswami stated that the protestors exceeded their permitted route and were stopped, leading to the use of crowd control measures and detentions.
