The Congress in Karnataka staged a protest on Saturday against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's green light to investigate and prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam.

Leading the agitation, CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar initiated a 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' march.

Siddaramaiah claimed that the Governor's office was being misused to destabilize the Congress government and accused Gehlot of discriminating against him in granting prosecution sanctions.

On August 16, Governor Gehlot approved the prosecution of the CM under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, as cited in petitions from three social activists.
