Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Wednesday that his government is investigating the escape of Alice Guo, a former town mayor accused of affiliations with Chinese criminal organizations.

Marcos emphasized accountability, stating, "Heads will roll" after Guo's Philippine passport was canceled following her confirmed departure according to foreign immigration records. The president declared, "We will expose the culprits who have betrayed the people's trust and aided in her flight."

Guo, recently expelled from office for grave misconduct, is wanted by the Senate for shunning hearings regarding her alleged criminal ties. She denies the accusations. Her escape coincides with increasing Philippine suspicion toward China's actions amid a South China Sea dispute.
