In a significant move, Mehbooba Mufti's daughter, Iltija Mufti, has been appointed as the constituency in-charge for the Bijbehara assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement was made by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, marking a crucial step ahead of the upcoming electoral process.
The PDP also nominated constituency incharges for eight assembly segments, seven of which are in south Kashmir and one in Chrar-e-Shareef, located in central Kashmir's Budgam. This decision comes a day before the polling process begins.
Notably, Bijbehara, where Iltija will oversee the constituency, has historical significance for her family as it is where her mother initiated her political career in 1996. Additionally, PDP youth leader Waheed-ur Rehman Parra has been designated the constituency in-charge for Pulwama after an unsuccessful bid in the recent parliamentary elections.
