Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has refuted allegations suggesting secret ties with the BJP after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released a commemorative coin marking DMK leader M Karunanidhi's birth centenary.

Stalin highlighted that the DMK remains steadfast in its principles, stressing that any decision to oppose or support is rooted in the party's ideology. His comments came a day after Singh praised Karunanidhi as a revered leader and advocate for social justice during the coin release ceremony.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized the DMK for inviting a BJP leader while questioning the absence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the event. Palaniswami pointed out the DMK's previous opposition to Prime Minister Modi and expressed confusion over the invitation extended to Singh.
