Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Home Department for failing to provide adequate security after ''bomb-like substances'' were discovered at ten locations, following ULFA(I)'s claim of planting 24 bombs.
Gogoi rebuked the BJP-led government, questioning whether the police and intelligence agencies were incompetent in preventing the planting of ''suspicious objects'' across the state. He pointed out that despite modern surveillance techniques, the Home Department failed to detect the threat.
The opposition leader alleged that Sarma's Home Department is more focused on protecting the mafia, cow smugglers, and syndicates rather than ensuring public security. Gogoi also criticized Sarma's prior tenures in various ministries, highlighting his failure to deliver effective governance.
