Amos Hochstein, a senior adviser to US President Joe Biden, emphasized the critical importance of leveraging the current window for diplomatic action to end the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict and tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border. He warned of the risks of escalating violence.

After discussions with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and other regional officials, Hochstein highlighted the urgency of cease-fire talks scheduled in Qatar. He expressed concerns that continued hostilities could lead to uncontrollable escalation, involving Iran and Hezbollah.

Hochstein remains hopeful that diplomatic efforts, including those involving Qatari, Egyptian, and US mediators, will help de-escalate the situation. He stressed that a cease-fire in Gaza could have a stabilizing effect on the broader region, which has seen tens of thousands displaced due to ongoing violence.
