'The Mehta Boys,' marking the directorial debut of actor Boman Irani, is set for its world premiere at the 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival on September 20, as announced on Monday.

Irani, renowned for his roles in the 'Munna Bhai' series, '3 Idiots,' and 'Khosla Ka Ghosla,' also takes on the roles of writer and producer for this Prime Video Original film.

He co-wrote the project with Oscar-winning screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris Jr, famous for the 2014 film 'Birdman.'

'The Mehta Boys,' starring Irani and Avinash Tiwary, revolves around a father and son who, despite their strained relationship, are forced to spend 48 hours together. The film delves into the nuanced complexities often found in father-son dynamics, as detailed in its official synopsis.

The Chicago premiere will feature a post-screening discussion with Irani, Dinelaris Jr, actors Tiwary and Shreya Chaudhry, producer Danesh Irani, and executive producer Ankita Batra.

Additionally, Irani and Dinelaris Jr will host a masterclass on the writing process of 'The Mehta Boys' on September 21.

An Irani Movietone LLP and Chalkboard Entertainment LLP production, the film also stars Puja Sarup and is produced by Vikesh Bhutani and Shujaat Saudagar.

The Chicago South Asian Film Festival will run from September 19 through September 22.
