Senior CPI leader Annie Raja and prominent economist Jean Dreze were among activists held during a protest near Khan Market demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, officials reported.
The group, carrying banners with messages such as 'Ceasefire Now' and 'Stop the Genocide', attempted to march towards the Israeli embassy when they were detained by police and transported to the Tughlak Road police station.
The protesters were released after being held for several hours, with Dreze noting they were not raising slogans but were picked up by police before reaching the embassy.
