Tragic Shelling in Northeastern Ukraine: Casualties and Destruction in Kharkiv and Sumy

Regional prosecutors reported that Russian shelling on Thursday resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to nine in Borova, a village in northeastern Ukraine's Kharkiv region. One victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine, is a frequent target of Russian strikes. Initial emergency services were attacked when Moscow's troops shelled the site a second time, leading to injuries among three rescuers, the Interior Ministry stated.

Prosecutors also reported five people injured in a Russian airstrike on Kharkiv's Kyivskyi district. Adjacent border areas in Sumy faced 57 attacks throughout the day, with an assault involving glide bombs killing one person near Yampil.

Sumy region borders southern Russia's Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces launched an incursion last month.
